Go Red!

No, I'm not cheering for a sports team -- I'm talking about the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign!

Heart disease is the #1 killer of women in the U.S. The aim of Go Red is to change the perception that heart disease is a "man's disease." By teaching more and more women how to talk to their doctors about heart disease, thousands of lives can be saved every year. Because the good news is that heart disease is often preventable!

There are lots of cool activities sponsored by the Go Red campaign including:

Shopping for a Cause
On Saturday, September 20, Macy's stores will host Shop For A Cause with donations benefiting Go Red For Women. Make a $5 donation and receive an all-day savings pass for select merchandise.

Untold Stories of the Heart
A television special about heart disease that focuses on women’s stories of struggle, success and support. Their stories will inspire conversation, compassion and greater understanding of the important journey to heart health.

Go Red Heart Check Up
  1. Go to Red Heart CheckUp. If you don't know your numbers, get them by visiting a healthcare provider.
  2. After you complete the Go Red Heart Checkup, select a Personal Action Plan that address specific challenges (like stopping smoking, weight loss, or managing cholesterol levels.)
So, get involved, whether it be learning from women who've had heart disease; or going out and shopping for the cause; or even taking it another step further and getting your own numbers checked and making a plan of action for yourself! GO RED!
